Updates

10th April 2010: Added A77-368 on display in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra provided by Peter F Williams. Its part of an extensive display highlighting 77 Sqn RAAF operations in the Korean conflict which saw 26 pilots killed in action and six more shot down and captured. The RAAF Meteors claimed five MIG-15's with five more damaged.

11th March 2009: In the latest 'Aeroplane' museums directory, the cockpit of WM267 was listed at the Norwich Aviation Museum, I did not have a photo of this which was thought to be with the Blyth Valley Aviation collection. Its not in very good condition but at least now we know what it looks like. It is however in serious need of attention, on a positive note though they appear to have repainted their F8 WK645 which looks very nice.

June 2008: There was news in 2008 of another cockpit section in the UK, WM145. This was at the North Yorkshire Aircraft Recovery center (Anyone have a contact for this group, or actual location) and was set to move to the Highland Aviation Museum near Inverness Airport. The last news I had was that the deal fell through but have no details of where the cockpit is now. If anyone knows the current owner or has a photo then please get in touch. If there any more Meteor cockpit sections in the UK that have been seen, drop me a note and a photo if you have one.

Jan 2008: Our first non-UK cockpit section came as a bit of a surprise via Chris Hundt in Emu Plains, Australia. He purchased an F8 cockpit from New Zealand previously owned by Dwen Airmotive. The identity of the aircraft is unknown but it apparently originally came from Singapore. Chris is actually trying to get enough parts to put together a complete static F8 and needs an F8 center-section although if you have any other bits I'm sure that he would like to know. If you can help Chris then let us know and we can put you in touch.

2007: Thanks to Andy Dawson at museum-explorer.org.ukfor the photos of VZ477, WD790, WL131 above and EE531 and VZ634 on the display airframes page. The photo of EE425 came via Chris Hunt at the Jet Age Museumleaving WM267 as the last gap to be filled on this page. If your interested specifically in cockpit sections of instrument panels then you should visit the website of the International Cockpit club.

If you have up to date images of any of the Meteors above, especially if there is no photograph of the airframe then please get in contact. We would also like to know about any other airframes or cockpit sections that may exist which are not listed. Additional historical information can also be sent in at any time. Please get permission from the copyright holder before sending in any image that is not your own. We are not in a financial position to purchase images for use on this site.
