Our chief engineer Sandy Mullen is looking for some essential parts for the restoration. If you can help with elevator spar and operating push rod then please get in touch. It's one of the few bits that we haven't been able to find to date. |
The father of Helen McFarlane (nee Saward), New Zealander Howard Charles Saward was killed on the 26th September 1948 off Thorney Island while with 222 Natal Squadron. He was apparently testing a Gloster Meteor at the time. After the accident Helen who was seven months old at the time was taken back to New Zealand by her mother but she would like to know more about the circumstances of the accident and what was being tested at the time. If you have any information can you contact us at meteorflight@uk2.net and I will pass on the details on to Helen.
The Meteor Flight has three Wessex gearboxes, all have been factory reconditioned and are sealed and inhibited. We have the peperwork for one of the units but not all three. The price for the gearboxes is negotiable as we could use the storage space for more Meteor parts. Please contact Hal Taylor on (01491) 872 205 for further information.
Although we are intending to restore other airframes once WA591 is finished in some cases we have many more parts of certain types than we could ever use. If you have a need for Meteor spares or parts that were common to the Meteor and other aircraft then get in contact as we may be able to help you with your project.
