Gloster Meteor F3, Airfix 1:72nd

The kit was first produced in 1969 but comparing an early kit that I bought on EBay with a new production model the parts are identical and age does not appear to have effected the quality of the moulding although new kits have better quality and more extensive decals. The kit went together extemely well and required minimal filler although weight is required in the nose for it to sit on its undercarriage and I would recommend the removal and rescribing of the rivets and panel detail as overscale rivets and out of scale panel detail is a common problem with early kits. Despite its simplicity I would recommend the kit highly. It has decals for EE239 of 616 Squadrons (YQ Q) & EE318 of 74 squadron (4D Z).
In March 2004 the kit was dropped from the Airfix catalog and is no longer in production. You can still pick them up on EBay and may find them in some model shops but they growing increasingly hard to find as collectors take them out of circulation. The kit has been released in a wide variety of different boxes over the years.
